On August 2, 2023, Carol Evans Way, 81, of Summerville, SC, entered into eternal rest. Her Funeral Service will be held on August 19, 2023, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11am. Inurnment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Carol was born on December 5, 1941, in Charleston, SC, and was the daughter of the late Robert E. Way and the late Stella Branton Way. She was a graduate of General William Moultrie High School in 1959 as well as MUSC College of Pharmacy in 1963. Carol was a pioneer for women, being only one of five female graduates in a then male dominated profession. She was a member of the SC Pharmacy Association and the Ninth District Association and retired in 1991.
She enjoyed working in the garden, traveling, watching Hallmark movies and old school sitcoms, photography, had a special fondness for animals, particularly dogs and horses, but was most widely known for her talent of baking delicious cakes. She had the kindest heart, and you could literally taste the love and comfort in each and every one of her bakes. She was a stranger to no one and anyone and everyone who knew her was touched by her gentle, compassionate soul.
She is survived by her sister, Kerry Way, of Summerville, SC; niece, Amanda Taylor Dowd of North Charleston, SC; and two great-nieces, Olivia Higdon of Ladson, SC and Eva Higdon of North Charleston, SC.
Memorials may be made to any animal shelter and/or rescue of your choice or Learn Horse Rescue, learnhorserescue.org.
