Carol Ann Norton Tuzo ,87, widow of Lt. Col. George Lawrence Tuzo, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville, SC .
Born June 18, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Astrid Selquist Norton and Eric Norton. Her brother, Eric Norton Jr., preceded her in death.
Carol received her RN from Charleston Southern University (1980), her Master's Degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina (1992), and her Psychiatric and Mental Health Credentialing from the American Nurse's Credentialing Center (2009).
Carol worked at Trident Medical Center from 1980 until 1992. She was employed as a nursing Instructor by Trident Technical College from 1993 until 2011. She co-authored the textbooks, Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing SUCCESS in 2008, and Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing SUCCESS PLUS in 2016.
Carol had a great group of friends that she loved dearly. She enjoyed traveling the world, playing cards and discussing any topic. You always knew where you stood no matter the subject. Carol opened her beautiful home to anyone and everyone, filling it with laughter and festivities. She made a party out of any situation. Carol was ahead of her time, a visionary, and always had a plan for the next adventure. She was fearless, loyal and genuine.
Survivors include; sons, Steven Tuzo (Shannon) from New Bern, NC; David Tuzo (Theresa) from Gulfport, MS; daughter, Monique Tuzo Furman (Rick) from Treasure Island, FL; grandchildren, Elise, Allie, and Zac Tuzo from New Bern, NC. She is also survived by several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
