Carol Martin Tisdale, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Thomas Jefferson Tisdale, Jr., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel. 

Carol was born March 9, 1941 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, daughter of the late Almon Clyde Cole and Edwina Hodges Cole. She graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1959 where she was a Marching Majorette. She attended Limestone College where she was an outstanding student and received her degree in 1963. After college, Carol traveled to Europe and afterwards started her long career in teaching. She taught upper elementary for 40 years with most of those years being at Ashley Hall School in Charleston, SC where she received the Rose Mary Hutto Excellence In Teaching Award. Carol was a member of Saint Michael’s Church in Charleston, SC and a member of the Elks Lodge #242. She was a kind, generous, and caring person to all of her loved ones. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, golfing, and dancing with her husband and friends. She was a voracious reader of fiction of all types and she shared this love with her students over her decades of teaching. 

She is survived by her daughter, Katie Wise; stepchildren, Kelly Smith, Jeff Tisdale III, Ryan Tisdale; grandchildren, Evan Rodwell, Shelby Rodwell, and Ansley Rodwell. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Martin.
