Dr. Carlysle Barfield, 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, died at Roper Hospital on November 8, 2024 after a very brief illness. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Dr. Barfield was the only son of the late Carlysle Barfield and the late Sarah Leona Maye. He was a rheumatologist affiliated with Roper St. Francis and maintained a private practice here in Charleston for 44 years. He was well loved by his patients and was always extremely devoted to offering the best medical care he could provide.
In his personal life, Carlysle was known for his dry wit, his love of travel and the opera, and his passionate commitment to the arts and his devotion to Charleston Symphony Orchestra. At his request there will be a private gathering.
He is survived by his only sibling and sister, Ciri Colee, LPC, and a host of cousins and close friends who loved him dearly.
