Entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, November 19, 2011, Carl Henry Rourk, Sr. of North Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Ave, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. His grandsons will be the pallbearers and the Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday school class members. The family will receive friends Monday at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Carl was born February 28, 1914 in Charleston, South Carolina, a son of John Elliott Rourk and Annie Doscher Rourk. He graduated from Charleston High School and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Chief Quarterman after 33 years of service. He was also a charter member of the Wando Woods Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason of the Mariner Lodge #2.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Tuten Rourk after 71 years of marriage. Survivors are his son, Carl H. Rourk, Jr. and his wife, Betty of North Charleston, SC; daughter, Gloria Rourk Lowder and her husband, Randy of Charleston, SC; sister, Mildred Roberts of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.
