Caleb Huiet Paul, 97, of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, husband of the late Helen Hilton Paul entered the presence of the Lord, gently and joyfully on Monday, February 1, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Eastbridge Presbyterian Church, 3058 North Highway 17 at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will he held in Magnolia Cemetery at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Monday, February 8, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Huiet was born August 5, 1918 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Robertson Paul and the late Katherine Francis Huiet Paul. He graduated from Presbyterian College with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and served in the United States Army, 71st Infantry Division, European Theatre, during World War II. After Service he owned and operated "Patterson Matches of the South" antique business and later went into partnership with his brother George Paul in "Colonial Motors" a Lincoln Mercury Dealership. He was also president of Paul Motors and a member of Eastbridge Presbyterian Church, Whipple Tennis Gang and the Rotary Club of Charleston. Huiet loved his God believing that he should always "Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior". Huiets' favorite verse from the King James Bible is Psalm 42:1-2: (To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.) As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Robeson (the late Edward) of Sullivan's Island, SC, Katherine Rutherford Paul of North Charleston, SC, and Helen Royal (Michael) of Charleston, SC; two sons, Thomas Huiet Paul (the late Sylvia) of Montreal, Quebec Canada and George Drummond Paul of Charleston, SC; seventeen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Lucy Paul Jones (the late Cadwallader) of Sullivan's Island, SC. He was preceded in death by wife, Helen Paul, brothers, Dr. John Robertson Paul, Jr. (Sue), George Drummond Paul and Rutherford Paul.
