Byrne George Kinney

Byrne George Kinney, 81, of Daniel Island, South Carolina, formerly of Waitsfield, Vermont died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. All services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC. FUNERAL CHAPELS, MOUNT PLEASANT LOCATION.

Byrne was born on August 21, 1931, son of the late Duke Kinney and Teresa Byrne Kinney of Syracuse, New York. Byrne earned football and hockey scholarships at Hamilton College in New York and was also on the golf and basketball teams. He was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. He was recruited to try out for the US Olympic Hockey Team during that time, but elected to go into the United States Marines instead. After completing his military service, Byrne worked with IBM followed by 33 years at Merrill Lynch as a First Vice President of Institutional Sales. He was also an avid snow skier and golfer. Byrne was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Snows Church in Waitsfield, Vermont.

Byrne is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Jean Kinney of Daniel Island, SC; a daughter, Kristen A. Lysik and her husband, Steve, of Daniel Island, SC; two sons, Byrne J. Kinney of Las Vegas, NV and Gavin B. Kinney of Simsbury, CT; three grandchildren, Krystina Kinney, Tory Lysik and Noelle Lysik; a sister-in-law, Susie Kinney of Syracuse, NY; a niece, Beth Nolan and nephews, Patrick Kinney, David Kinney and Matthew Kinney. Byrne treasured his family and friends deeply.
