Burnett "Burnie" Parker Jackson, 76, of McClellanville, South Carolina, husband of Linda S. Jackson died Monday, September 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and friends. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burnie was born February 11, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Joel "JP" Parker and Ethel Morris Jackson. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Burnie carried on the family tradition and spent his life as a commercial fisherman. He was a loving husband and devoted father.
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his children, Annette Longo (Jim) of Orlando, FL, Lisa Perkins (Ernie Bensen) of Goose Creek, SC, Lamar Jackson (Sonya) of McClellanville, SC, and Pam Powell of Summerville, SC; nine grandchildren, Lindsey, Teddie, Chelsea, Little Roger, Jerica, Devon, Asha, Zoe, and Alexis; seven great-grandchildren, William, Breezy, Emberley, Brody, Jackson, Macy, and Brice; and his sisters, Harriette Fort and Carol Allen, both of McClellanville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Five Fathom Baptist Church, PO Box 132, McClellanville, SC 29458.
