Bright Emory Sitton, Jr., of Mount Pleasant, SC, died May 9, 2017. Mr. Sitton was born January 4, 1924, in Greer, SC, the son of the late Bright Emory Sitton, Sr., and the late Daisy Wylie Sitton. He attended Mt. Zion Institute in Winnsboro, SC and the University South Carolina and served in the United States Air Corps during World War II.Mr. Sitton began his career with Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey employed for 18 years. He was founder of Ideal Fuel Co. of Spartanburg, SC and served as President of the South Carolina L.P. Gas Association. He also worked in management for Gardner-Marsh Gas Equipment Co. in Raleigh, NC and Parr Gas of Charleston. He was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC.He is survived by two daughters, Jane Sitton Onkotz and Janis Sitton Breazeale and her husband, James Wharton Breazeale, Jr.; three grandchildren; Lisa McGuire Kerns and her husband, Jeffrey Michael Kerns, Robert Eugene McGuire, and his wife Traci Peters McGuire, and James Wharton Breazeale, III; five great-grandchildren: Banks Kerns, Rhys Kerns, McClain McGuire, Hayes McGuire and Robert Peters; and a sister-in-law, Helen Shealy Sitton of Ware Shoals, SC. Mr. Sitton was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Doris Schatz Sitton, his daughter, Donna Louise Sitton, his grandson Charles Emory Onkotz, and his brother, Jack Dalton Sitton. Relatives and friends of Mr. Sitton are invited to attend his funeral service Friday, May 12, 2017 at All Saints Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at a reception in the parish hall following the service. A private entombment will follow.
