Brian Miller Aiken

Brian Miller Aiken, 52, of Mount Pleasant, SC went to his peaceful rest on Friday, June 23, 2023. Brian was a well-loved man, by his family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Brian, originally from Easley, SC, was a 1993 graduate of Clemson University where he earned a degree in Financial Management. He went on to pursue a career in banking and finally commercial real estate. He was Vice President of Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic in Charleston, SC, where he became known as one of the top commercial real estate brokers/developers in the region. His 25 years at Coldwell Banker Commercial Atlantic were instrumental in the growth and success of the company. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in his work. His will for success was unmatched. As much as he was a successful and dedicated businessman, Brian desired a simple life: good music, the open water, the beach, his family and friends.

He was an avid runner, bike-rider, boater and fixer-upper. You would often find him biking around his home in Mount Pleasant, on his boat enjoying the saltwater, or taking on projects around the house. He had an eye for design and could figure just about anything out - from a broken-down boat to building his back porch patio. He loved his late dog Marley and his cat Hoppy. They were his beloved companions.

Brian was a music man at heart. He was a self-taught musician, becoming a Charleston-local favorite and performed along with his bands at various venues throughout the Charleston area. His favorite instrument was the guitar, which he began playing in high school and never stopped. As talented a guitarist as he was, those who knew and loved him would likely say his tenor voice was his most beautiful gift. He found such joy in singing and playing. Sing-a-long was one of his favorite things to do with his sister and nieces, who lovingly refer to him as “Uncle Piggy.”

Brian was a man of integrity with a gentle and free spirit. To know him was to love him. He was a fun, genuine, and deep-thinking person. He was a good and reliable friend who could be called on when you needed him and he would show up. He was always interested in you and you knew what you were saying was important to him. Brian was truly everyone’s favorite person, lighting up any room.

He was predeceased by his father, Joe Aiken, his grandparents, Boyce and Lillian Miller and William and Mattie Aiken. He is survived by his mother, Mary Aiken Robbins, his sister, Stacey Aiken Garrison and her husband, his chosen brother Brian, and his beloved nieces, Olivia Catherine Garrison of New York City, New York and Chloe Miller Garrison of Atlanta, Georgia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Seacoast Church on Long Point Rd. in Mount Pleasant, SC on Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 5:30 PM.
