Brenda Guthrie Marques, 63, of Daniel Island, SC, wife of Francisco J. Marques died Sunday, September 13, 2015. Her memorial service will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Cooper River Baptist Church, 1059 Crawford Street, North Charleston, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Brenda was born December 13, 1951 in Gaffney, SC, she was one of four children of the late Ralph A. and Thelma L. Guthrie. Brenda received her bachelor's degree from Winthrop University and master's degree from The Citadel. Brenda was an Adjunct Professor at Charleston Southern University. She was the music director and organist at Cooper River Baptist Church where she was a member for 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Francisco Marques of Daniel Island, SC; two sons, Edmund Marques and his wife, Bridgette, of Atlanta, GA and Jason Marques of North Charleston, SC; and two grandchildren.
