Bonny Scott McConnell, 87, of Awendaw, South Carolina, husband of Elizabeth Hamlin McConnell entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 25, 2026. His graveside service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 in the Christ Church Cemetery, 2304 Highway 17 North at 11:00 am.
Bonny was born September 27, 1938 in Jesup, Georgia, son of the late Aaron Blakely McConnell and the late Mary Isabelle Thames. He was a proud graduate of Newberry College, where he laid the foundation for a successful career. Bubba dedicated himself to serving as a terminal manager at the Columbus Street Terminal for the States Port Authority, illustrating his commitment to the maritime industry. He was also actively involved with the International Longshoremen Association. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Elks Lodge 242, and both a Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by sons, Scott McConnell, Jr. (Sara) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, James McConnell (Leah) of Awendaw, SC, and Tim McConnell of Brunswick, GA; stepchildren, Robert Schirmer and Elizabeth Hamlin-Brown; six grandchildren; and sister Julia Snyder (Robert) of Awendaw, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Whitton.
