Bobby Lee Leatherwood

Captain Bobby Lee Leatherwood, USAF (Ret), 74, of North Charleston, SC, died Thursday, August 29, 2013. A Joint Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, for Bobby and Ona Maxwell Leatherwood at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel from noon until 1:00 pm. Burial services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Beaufort National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

Bobby was born August 27, 1939 in Memphis, TN, son of the late Aubrey Howard Leatherwood and the late Helen Dougan Leatherwood. He was a graduate of Park College and a retired Captain from the US Air Force in the office of Special Investigations. He also was a retired Sergeant with the Charleston County Sheriff's Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara J. Cook and her husband Andrew of Wake Forest, NC; sons, Wade Leatherwood and his wife Whitney of Johnstown, OH and Alex Leatherwood and his wife Cindy of North Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Kayla Leatherwood, Ashley Lee, Ethan Leatherwood, Nicholas Leatherwood, Dylan Leatherwood, Wesley Leatherwood, Conner Leatherwood, Christopher Leatherwood and Madeleine Cook; great-grandson, Austin Gladstone; sister-in-law, Danita Willey and her husband Don of Jackson, TN; brothers-in-law, James Maxwell of Jackson, TN and Gipsy Maxwell of Jackson, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ona Maxwell Leatherwood.
