Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, December 24, 2011, Bobby Hardin Duggins. Residence, Wando, SC. The relatives and friends of 1SG. Duggins are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 10:00am at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston. Interment, with full Military Honors will be held at 2:00pm at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
Bobby was born on July 7, 1947 in Charleston, SC the son of Hardin and Clara (Wilson) Duggins. In 1965 after his high school graduation he joined the US Army and reported to the Republic of Vietnam where he was wounded in action and ETS'd out of the regular Army July 1968.
1SG Duggins was in the IRR from July 1968 until 1975 when he enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard HHC 1st-118th . He made 1SG at A1-118th where he remained until 2004. From 2004-06 he taught WLC at McCrady Training Center, Eastover, SC. He was called to active duty with Co A 1-118TH IN (M) for Anti-Terrorism Force Protection. When he retired from the National Guard, Bobby worked as a civilian instructor at McCrady Training Center where he taught the First Sergeant course. 1SG Duggins received numerous awards including the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star.
He also retired from the US Postal Service, Mt. Pleasant office.
His military affiliations include the Marion Maraoders Society, Sumter Guards and the National Guard Association; Civilian affiliations include the National Letter Carriers.
Bobby is survived by his dear friend Carol Bordwell; three daughters: LaQuinta Washington and her husband Ramon, Rose Schneider and Victoria Brown, all of North Charleston; seven grandchildren. His sister and his son, Bobby Duggins Jr., preceded him in death
