Bobbie Jean Burch Howell, widow of Richard Neal Howell and twice President of the Roper Hospital Auxiliary, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at her family's residence after years of declining health.
The funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul (Episcopal) with committal following at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at 64 Brisbane Drive.
Mrs. Howell was born August 24, 1931 in Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of Robert Elijah Burch and Frances Cullom Burch. She was a graduate of Needham Broughton High School and Peace College in Raleigh, as well as East Carolina University. She was a homemaker her entire married life and volunteered at Roper Hospital's information desk for decades. She was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul.
Mrs. Howell is survived by her son, Scott Cullom Howell and his wife, Susan Neth Howell and her granddaughters, Caroline Cullom Howell and Rebecca Reed Howell, all of Charleston, SC.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to her caregivers who were truly her shining stars.
