Blanche Isabelle Cumbee Aytes, 90, of Johns Island, SC, widow of Michael Lewis Aytes, Sr., entered into eternal rest at her home Friday, December 11, 2015, following an extended illness. Her funeral service will be held Monday, December 14, 2015, in The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul, 126 Coming Street, at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Blanche was born March 14, 1925 in Moncks Corner, SC, the daughter of the late Robert Ransom Cumbee and the late Josephine Wright Cumbee Dupree. She was a graduate of Berkeley High School, a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul, and focused her life on her family and home. Blanche was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dianne Aytes of Johns Island; three grandchildren: Michael L. Aytes, III (Melody) of Waxhaw, NC, Ashley T. Aytes, and April M. Aytes, both of Charleston; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons, Michael Lewis Aytes, Jr., and Randy R. Aytes; a great-grandson, Michael Elliott Willis, Jr.; seven brothers and a sister.
