Blake Edwin Smith, 55, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel. His Funeral Service will be held at the graveside on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:00 a,m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
Blake was born June 16, 1970 in Columbus, Ohio, son of Lavinia Bruorton Smith and the late William Edwin Smith, Jr.
Blake was recognized as a great talent on both the football field and wrestling mat at James Island High School having achieved several tournament wins and was a proud Trojan graduate.
Blake was a graduate of the Armstrong Atlantic Law Enforcement Academy in Savannah, Georgia, and proudly served with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Corrections Division. Blake also served with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the Glynn County Police Department, dedicating years of his life to law enforcement and public service.
As an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, you could often find him in his red garb cheering on the Dawgs at his favorite neighborhood location, Garage 75.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Adell Smith Hutto (Andy); Kellie Smith Suggs (Bobby); nephews, William Hutto, Tyler Suggs, Logan Suggs, Mason Suggs; his long-time caregiver Maximina Flores; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
