Rt. Rev. Edward W. Neufville, II, B.A, M.TH., D.D., 11th Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Liberia, 2nd Suffragan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Liberia, and Former Dean of the Anglican Province of West Africa. The families of the Rt. Rev. Edward W. Neufville, II, announce the peaceful home-going of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, and Bishop. This sad event occurred at on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. The Rt.Rev.Edward W. Neufville II was born unto the union of Edward W.Neufville I and Sarah Elliott in Maryland County, Liberia. Bishop Neufville and his family relocated to Sumter in 1992 during the civil war in Liberia. Fr. Charles F. Walton A long time friend and then rector of the Church of the Holy Comforter and church family were instrumental in relocating the family and welcomed the Neufvilles to Sumter, South Carolina. The then Bishop of South Carolina, Bishop Edward Salmon granted Bishop Neufville License and was assigned to St. Christopher Episcopal Church in Sumter S.C. Bishop Neufville returned to Liberia after a year to complete his ministry. On May 6, 1984, Bishop Neufville was consecrated Suffragan Bishop at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Monrovia, Liberia. On January 6, 1996, He was enthroned as Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Liberia. He served in this capacity until his retirement on December 16, 2007. Upon his retirement he was he licensed by The Rt. Rev. Mark Lawrence Bishop of South Carolina. He took on the position as Bishop in residence at Good shepherd in Sumter and served as supply priest to Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Statesburg, St. Augustine in Pinewood. Bishop Edward W. Neufville, II, is survived by his wife of 42 years, Louise Morais Neufville, Four children, Puode Edlouise Neufville,(Sumter) Nmano Edwina Neufville, (Sumter)Ade Grace Neufville-Adeleke ( Paul),Austin,Texas, Edward Wea Neufville III ( Bahia) Silver Springs,MD Six grandchildren Hemiede Neufville, Oizamsi Adeleke, Weade-Louise Adeleke, Nadia and Nadine Adeleke and Baby Edward IV. Seven siblings Aldolphus Neufville( St. Paul,Minnisota), Alberta Howard(David) Cincinnati, Ohio, Elizabeth Dennis( George) Columbia, South Carolina, Mercy Smith(Stephen) Liberia, Sarah Neufville-Liberia, Christian Neufville-Liberia, Edwin Neufville -Liberia. Two in-Laws, Joe and Marie Garber-Phoenix Arizona, Charles and Dwedor Ford-Greensboro North Carolina. Nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives. Viewing of the Body and Funeral Service: A celebration of and thanksgiving for his life and peaceful home-going will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2010 at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul located at 126 Coming Street, Charleston, South Carolina, 29403. Tributes and viewing of the body will begin promptly at 1:00 P.M. At 3:00 P.M. Holy Eucharist and the celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Bishop Edward W. Neufville, II will begin.
