Billy Jay McClung

MSgt. Billy Jay McClung, U.S. Air Force, Ret., 91, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, widower of Mary Elise Chavis McClung entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 8, 2022. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Harbour Lake Baptist Church, 1056 Red Bank Road, Goose Creek at 1:00 pm. Interment with military honors will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Billy was born November 25, 1930 in Mount Lookout, West Virginia, son of the late Joseph Marshall McClung and Helen Wood Evans McClung. He served more than 23 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a MSgt. Billy also worked in radio communications and retired from the City of Charleston. He was a member of Harbour Lake Baptist Church. He is survived by his six children: Linda Cox of Morrisville, NC; Blair McClung (Elizabeth) of GA; Wanda McClung Johnson (Craig) of Dunkirk, MD; Dana M. Crawford of Walterboro, SC; Steven McClung (Andrea) of Moncks Corner, SC; and Dwayne McClung (Darlene) of Ridgeville, SC; 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his four siblings: Nettie Mazle, Ozle C., Eva Maria and Eula Blendine.
