Charleston - Billie Jean Beal Roble, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Arthur Raymond Roble, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 16, 2017, surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 in St. John's Lutheran Church, 5 Clifford Street at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Billie Jean was born November 18, 1933 in Cocoa, Florida, daughter of the late William H. Beal and Thelma Davis Beal. She was a graduate of Florida State University and member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Billie Jean was married to Ray for 50 years. They lived many places, finally settling in Charleston. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother , Leonard Beal, two sisters, Vadna Smith and Marjorie Beal, and daughter-in-law, Susan Roble. Billie Jean is survived by son, Brent Roble, Chapin, SC, daughter, Karen Roble Christenberry (Mark), Charleston, Kristi Roble Crowder (Ken), North Augusta, SC, and grandchildren Allison Roble, Sarah Christenberry, Leigh Anne Roble Monroe (David), Caroline Crowder, Duncan Crowder, and Claire Crowder, and close family friend, Anita Wendelin Jones.
Family was her greatest joy.
Billie Jean remained actively involved in the numerous activities of her children and grandchildren, attending school and sporting events, award ceremonies, and musical performances. Her faith and church were always very important to her. She did much volunteer work in her church and community, most recently serving as a docent at St. John's Lutheran Church. Billie Jean had many friends. She enjoyed frequent lunches with her Charleston area friends. Writing letters and reading gave her much pleasure. She was a very caring and loving soul. She will be truly missed.
