Bevia Harrell Denning, 97 years, of Cumming, GA, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon, August 15, 2021. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. for a Visitation and Celebration of Bevia's Life. Her Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 in the West Ashley Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A brief service will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing.

Bevia was born August 28, 1923 in Huger, SC, daughter of the late Frank Harrell, Sr. and Lorean Johnson Harrell. She graduated from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner and attended Arkansas University. She was an avid oil paintings artist and enthusiastically participated in several ballroom dance Showcases for the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Charleston. Bevia was a Lowcountry resident all her life until August 2003, when she moved to the Atlanta area to be closer to and cared for by her daughter.
Bevia was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Julio V. Denning of Charleston on January 5, 1991; and by her son, Julio "Val" Denning, Jr. of Columbia, SC on February 11, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her brothers: Dr. Allen L. Harrell of Charleston, Frank Harrell, Jr. of El Cajon, CA and Edward L. Harrell who perished in battle during WWII; and by her sister, Ethyl Ferguson of Abilene, TX.
Bevia is survived by her sister, Della Wiggins of Charleston, SC; her children: Edward C. Denning (Rebeca), of Houston, TX; Arthur W. Denning (Elsa), of Cabo San Lucas, MX; and Donna B. Denning, of Cumming, GA; her grandchildren: Bradley Denning, Angela Denning, Rachael Denning, Lori Denning (all children of Val Denning), Shiloh Denning, Heather Denning, Michael Denning (all children of Ed Denning), Giovanna Denning (daughter of Art Denning); and April Dudley Barr and Tom Dudley, IV (children of Donna Denning); several great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family extends grateful appreciation to Seasons Hospice for the kindness and care they showed Bevia in her last days.
All who were fortunate enough to know her will miss her dearly.
