Beverly Warren Toner

Beverly Warren Toner, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, died at peace at the age of 73 on Saturday, April 18, 2015 following a sudden illness. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 4:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Beverly was a pioneering woman who placed friendship and family above all else. She graduated from St. Paul's High School where she made life-long friends, including her teacher, Em Commings, whose friendship and profound influence endures Bev's passing. Following high school she went on to attend pharmacy school at MUSC, where she was the only female in her class. Working hard, as she always did, she graduated salutatorian.

Upon graduation, Beverly moved to Anderson, South Carolina, where she began a career and family. She worked as a pharmacist at Anderson Memorial Hospital and Jim McCallum's Prescription Shop. In the early 1970's, she took a position with Roche Laboratories, becoming the first female sales representative in the Southeast. She would continue in this role, in Anderson and later in her hometown of Charleston, for almost forty years. She took great pride in working with healthcare providers, giving them information that allowed them to better treat their patients, but more importantly, she treasured the relationships with colleagues and customers that were developed over the decades.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Matthew, Jefferson, and Jordan Brooke. She also enjoyed seeing the world, making friends all the way.

Beverly is survived by her children, Clifford Roark and Valerie; her brothers James, Ronnie and his wife Debbie, Ricky and his wife Tammy; her sisters Pam Howard and her husband Roy, Becky Nunally and her husband Billy. She was preceded into eternal rest by her parents J.E. and Mary Alice Warren, and her siblings Faith and Robert.
