Beverly Elizabeth Koester Johnson, 87, of Charleston, SC, widow of William Amos Johnson, Jr., entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 11, 2014. Her funeral service will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 in the Church of The Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Beverly was born August 19, 1927 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Thomas Frederick Koester and Lillie Todd Koester. She graduated from Memminger and attended The College of Charleston. She married her love, Billy, December 27, 1948, they made their home in Charleston and were active members of the Church of the Holy Communion. She was a true southern lady who loved flowers and gardening and was a member of Holy Communion Flower Guild, Charleston Floral Society, Ft. Johnson Estates Garden Club, the Gibbes Art Gallery, Charleston Museum and the Charleston Symphony Association, also a member of St. Catherine's Guild until her death. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family was her life, she enjoyed watching it grow.
She is survived by her two daughters, Karen J. Ott (John) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Janice J. Putman (Alan) of Lexington, SC; two sons, William Gary Johnson of New York, NY and Donald Wayne Johnson (Terrie) of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Eugene Koester (Virginia) of Pinopolis, SC and Alan Koester of Charleston, SC; brother-in-law, Carl Albert Johnson (Maxine) of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Ryan Ott (Elizabeth), Thad Ott, Allison Roberts, Grace Putman, Will Johnson and Elizabeth Whitworth; and six great-grandchilden: Colleen Ott, Cassidy Ott, Emily Ott, Jaimee Roberts, Ansley Roberts and Xander Whitworth.
