Bettye Barton Orr

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of December 31, 2011, Bettye Barton Orr, wife of James Edmund Orr, Jr. of Seabrook Island, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Orr, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral service of the latter in The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 9:30 am. Interment, Beaufort National Cemetery at 1 pm.

Bettye was born January 3, 1925 in Asheville, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Howard Dudley Barton and the late Julia Scott Barton Mashburn. She attended Shorter College in Rome, GA and was a graduate of The University of Delaware in 1945. Bettye was a communicant and member of the Altar Guild at the Church of Our Saviour on Johns Island.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years; two sons, James E. "Ed" Orr III (Janet) of Norcross, GA and Carl Barton Orr (Kathy) of Hunnington, NY; six grandchildren, Carl Barton Orr, Jr., James E. Orr IV, Matthew Thomas Orr, David Charles Orr, John Edmund Orr and Julia Katharine Orr; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Matthew Orr, Stella Rose Orr and Carly Elizabeth Orr.
