Bunny was born on Easter (hence her nickname Bunny) on March 28, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Emory Summers and the late Betty Deen Crosby. Bunny attended Chicora High School where she was given the Sertoma Award for her thousand hours of volunteer service at Roper Hospital and an academic scholarship to Baptist College (Charleston Southern University). At Baptist College, she studied elementary education and was given a prestigious award for exemplary service to the campus community. Afterward, as a Navy wife, Bunny lived abroad in Okinawa, Japan. There she formed incredible lifelong bonds with other Navy families. Bunny's lifelong career and passion was teaching in rural and underprivileged schools on Wadmalaw and Johns Island as well as Charleston inner city schools where she was able to ignite her students' love for reading. Often, Bunny would go to the Piggly Wiggly and spend time talking to former students, hearing about their progress and families. Many of her students went on to do great things in the community. However, Bunny's primary joy was raising her sons. Her door was always open to many young people who received her smile, hugs, and undivided attention. Upon retiring, Bunny served at the Coastal Crisis Pregnancy Center where she was able to give hope to expectant mothers and save the lives of many babies from abortion. As a Daughter of the King, which is a national women's prayer ministry, Bunny was a devout follower of Christ who gave her time and talent in the Anglican Church. In fact, she developed a hospital waiting room ministry called the "Muffin Ministry" which aimed to comfort families of those in critical care with snacks and scripture. All throughout her life, Bunny cultivated close friendships through the Navy, Bible studies and extended family that stretched all over the country. She was always appreciated for her laugh, her stories, as well as her kindness and grace. In addition, Bunny developed many talents such as painting and drawing, quilting, writing of short stories, and studying scripture. All in all, Bunny's life was exemplified by service to God and all those around her.

She is survived by her children, Richard Henry Tetrev, Jr. of N. Charleston, SC and Peter V. Tetrev (Karen) of Johns Island, SC, and Keturah "Kat" Tetrev; grandchildren, William (at the US Merchant Marine Academy), Kaija (works at MUSC), Henry (to attend the Citadel), Peter John (applicant to US Merchant Marine Academy), Emory (high school at Veritas Classical Schools) and Anja (middle school at School of the Arts). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Raymond Tassin; and sister, Annie Laurie Rabjon.
