She met and married her husband of 44 years, the late Louis S. Yuhasz, Jr. in 1955 at St. Rita's Church in Alexandria, Virginia. In addition to raising a family, Betty held prominent Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef positions in some of the Metropolitan DC areas' best restaurants including, La Bergerie, The John Bull Restaurant and Boston's Restaurant. Betty went on to serve as food service director for the United States Army at Cameron Station in Alexandria, Virginia and late in her career as a school nutrition service manager where she shared her love and enjoyment of food and cooking. True to her Virginia Mountain girl roots, Betty, was ready with a "can do," attitude, willing heart and reliable approach. In addition to her love of food and cooking she was an avid gardener and maintained a garden in her retirement community. She gave of her time generously to the charity named in her beloved husband's name, Louie's Kids, as well as participating in many charitable drives for the Windward Home for Boys and The MUSC Children's Hospital through various craft fundraising projects organized by her beloved community of Sandpiper Independent Living where some of her best and happiest later days were spent. Betty's laugh knew no end. Her spirit, generosity, kindness, and "one of a kind," sense of humor made her a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to many.
