Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of October 11, 2010, Betty Lou Chandler Smith, widow of Lucian Eugene Smith. Residence, James Island, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL at two o'clock. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Smith was born October 23, 1929 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of T. Chandler and Katie Hunt Chandler. She was a founding and charter member of Island Crafters Guild and had an incredible passion in life. She was a 1946 graduate of North Charleston High School and married Gene in 1948. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
She is survived by one son: Richard Eugene Smith and his wife Pam of Johns Island, SC; one daughter: Sidonie Aten and her husband Mark of James Island, SC; four grandchildren: Erin Reed, Michael Reed, Brenton Smith and Cori Smith; one great granddaughter: Anna Smith; two step-grandchildren: Richard Hyatt and Melissa Casselman. She is also survived by three dear friends: Rosie Holst, Janet Goolsby and Margie McKenzie. She was predeceased by two brothers: Bobby Chandler and Tiny Chandler.
