Betty Morrell Royall, 78, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, May 6, 2024. The family will receive friends Friday, May 17, 2024 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. A private internment will be held in Christ Church Cemetery at a later date.
Betty was born May 29th, 1945 in Spartanburg South Carolina, daughter of the late Lee Roy Morrell and the late Elizabeth Moss Morrell. A graduate of Georgia State University, Betty taught in Charleston County public schools and raised her family here in the Lowcountry with her husband, Bill.
Betty will be remembered for her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. Betty loved everything about her life... her family, her friends, her multitude of (very lucky) animals, Elvis and especially America. She and Bill spent many a day on the banks of Shem Creek with friends and family enjoying each other's company and feasting on the local seafood that Betty was so fond of catching.
Betty could often be seen walking the Ravenel Bridge or exercising at the Mount Pleasant Senior Center. In her younger years, Betty was an avid traveler.... from Alaska to Africa by way of China, she and Bill explored as much of the world as possible. However, Las Vegas was her go-to destination... most likely due to the heavy Elvis presence. And like Elvis, Betty may have left the building, but she will not be forgotten. She will be greatly missed by all that knew & loved her.
She is survived by her son, Lee M. Royall, MD of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (Mary-Fraser); grandchildren, William Edwin Royall, Lillian DuPré Royall, and Emily Allston Royall. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Samuel Royall, Jr. and sister Margaret Morrell Powell.
