Betty Lou Platt

Betty Lou Platt of Mount Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2023. Her graveside service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, in the Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Drive at 11:00 am. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Betty was born in Conway, South Carolina, the daughter of C.C. and Ethel Causey Platt on October 31, 1936. She was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and studied at Sacred Heart College in Belmont, North Carolina. She retired after a distinguished career from the Medical University of South Carolina as a secretary in the accounting department. She was a resident of Somerby of Mount Pleasant.

Betty spent many years enjoying time with family and friends on Folly Beach, especially in her garden with both vegetables and flowers and studying and watching a variety of birds. She also enjoyed spending time at her vacation home on Lake Moultrie. Prior to moving to Somerby of Mt. Pleasant she lived at Surfside Beach where she made many friends enjoying trips to Old Time Pottery and bowling in two leagues.

Betty is survived by a niece Kim Cameron and her dear friends Cheyrl and Henry Fishburne. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Carrie Belle Ayers, Emily Thompkins, brothers A.C. Platt and Chandler Platt and her partner of 38 years, Adelaide Fishburne.

Her dear friends would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Somerby of Mt. Pleasant and Regency Southern Care, especially her caregivers, Britney Allen and Lakosha Wade.
