Betty Jo Hudson Douty

Betty Jo Hudson Douty, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Nelson F. Douty passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.

Betty Jo was born October 28, 1932 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late F. Wendell Hudson and Fay Breland Hudson. She graduated from St. Andrews High School and worked 31 years for South Carolina National Bank, now known as Wells Fargo. She also worked with the F.B.I. in Washington, DC for several years. Betty Jo was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by her son, David L. Douty and his wife, Laurie of Goose Creek, SC; her daughter, Fay Huett and her husband, Allen of Jacksonville, NC; her grandchildren, Ashlen Van Koevering, Gregory Douty, and Matthew Douty; and her great-grandchild, Christian Van Koevering. She was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Thomas Hudson, Frances H. Brigman, Clarice Edwards

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty Jo's name to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406.
