Betty "Sandi" Sandra Engelman, 75, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of David Arthur Engelman, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 5, 2025. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
Sandi was born November 13, 1949 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Hughes and Roberta Rush. She was a professional hair stylist most of her life having owned her own salon. She dedicated her retirement to serving the public, serving on the District 3 Constituent School Board for James and Johns Islands, as well as the Charleston County School Board. In addition she served as a Commissioner for the James Island Public Service District eventually holding the chair position. She also served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the Exchange Club of Charleston. Her dedication to the public earned her the Order of the Palmetto from the State Governor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Shawn Engelman (Heather), Nicholas Engelman; daughter, Kristi Engelman (Richard Bozard); grandsons Andrew Engelman and Liam Engelman; and sister, Carol Bilbray (Narvie); as well as nephews Greg Griffith and Tim Bilbray and niece Tonya Bascal.
She was preceded in death by sister, Rose Marie Jones; and brother, Robert Tyrone Kinard.
