Betty Jane Adams Davis, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Richard S. Davis, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Betty was born January 5, 1924 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Newell Adams and Mabel Daugherty Adams. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, member of the United Methodist Women and was an active volunteer. Betty was a retired legal Secretary and Paralegal with Young, Clement, and Rivers Law Office and served in the Navy Decoding Office during World War II.
She is survived by her daughters; Peggy York (Jim) of Charleston, SC, and Ann Woods (Tom) of Johns Island, SC; a son, Richard S. Davis, Jr. (Ginger) of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Lee Richards (Jill), Linda Walters (Richard), Kathryn Robinson, Betty Ann Terry (Chris), and Jo Ann Leckie; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Tommy and Jackie Adams.
