Betty Watts Butler, 91, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Charles R. Butler, Sr., went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, March 25, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held graveside Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd.
Betty was born July 20, 1925 in Pageland, South Carolina, daughter of the late Robert Lee Watts and the late Cornelia Alice Hamilton Watts. She graduated from Memminger High School and Rice Business School, and attended the College of Charleston. She was a WWII bride and met her husband at the U.S.O. Betty was a lifetime resident of the Lowcountry, and a long time member of Citadel Square Baptist Church. She became a member of Hibben United Methodist Church after her move to Mount Pleasant.
Grammy, as she was known by all, loved her family, two-legged and four-legged, alike. She always had a smile for everyone, and loved to tend her collection of African violets.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne B. Kennerty (Hap) of Mount Pleasant, SC; her daughter-in-law, Jane W. Butler of Leslie, GA; five grandchildren, Harry J. Kennerty (Joanna), Patrick L. Kennerty, Meredith W. Kennerty, all of Mount Pleasant, SC, Dawn B. Whitten (Kenith) of Tomball, TX, and Betsy Estes (Jonathan) of Leslie, GA; three great-grandchildren, Robert Mason and Hannah Grace Kennerty of Mount Pleasant, SC and Jackson Randall Whitten of Tomball, TX; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Chuck, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles R. "Randy" Butler, Jr., and her sister, Dorothy W. Holl.
