Betty Ruth Berry

April 2, 1936 — August 2, 2014

Betty R. Berry, 78, passed away at Trident Medical Center on August 2, 2014. Born in Scotland, PA on April 2nd 1936, she was the daughter of the late Helen Mae Perry and Walter Crawford Bard.

Betty was an active member of the LaFemmes Cabane 1067, and the Auxiliary Unit 166 of the American Legion Unit 166. Over the years she received many awards and citations for her commitment to support and help others through these organizations along with other different foundations.

She had a passion for creating and designing and loved making flower arrangements, Arts and Crafts and especially Interior Decorating.

Betty was married to the late CW04 Joseph C. Berry, Sr. until his passing in 2010. During their 54 years of marriage, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as she spent her entire life giving her love, heart and soul to all four generations.

As a career military officer's wife she demonstrated great core values, honesty, and integrity with everyone she came in contact with but most importantly with her family.

Betty was the mother of three children: daughters, Helen J. McLaughlin and Katherine A. Floyd and son, Joseph C. Berry Jr.

Other survivors include her sister, Barbara A. Bard; sister-in-law, Katherine J. Berry; daughter-in-law, Bonnie F. Berry; sons-in-law, James R. McLaughlin and Jeffrey M. Floyd; grandchildren: Richard J. Meister, Sara Jane Meister, Christina M. Floyd and Jessica L. Floyd; great-grandchildren: Hayley J. Meister, Makayla N. Love, Anthony T. Love, Sean AJ Floyd and Ashley P. Floyd.

Betty was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, five brothers: William C. Bard, Donald W. Bard, Mervale L. Bard, Jay R. Bard, Teddy R. Bard and her granddaughter, Betty Jo Meister Ellis.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
