Betty Jean Lake Beach, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Brantley Robert "Bob" Beach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Her funeral will be held at the graveside Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Betty was born October 8, 1931 in Silverstreet, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Frank Lake and Sudie Tallant Lake. She received an Associate's degree from Rice Business College She was a local artist and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Betty was devoted to her late husband, children and grandchildren. Her passion for life was captured in her art which she pursued in various forms for most of her life. Her keen eye for minute details in the world around her and love of sharing this beauty became documented as stories in every painting she created.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Williams (Billy) of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sons, Rick Beach (Jennifer) of Downingtown, PA, Rodney Beach of Charleston, SC; a sister Joyce Fralin, and a brother Donald Lake both of Walterboro, SC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Whitney, Amelia, Andrew, Brantley, Katherine, Michael, Lilly, and Heather; and six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Amber, Starr, Blake, Mason, and Logan. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine, and a brother, Ted.
