Betty Jean Baker, 82, of Ladson, SC, widow of James Baker died Thursday, July 12, 2012 in a local hospital.
Born January 29, 1930 in Parris Island, SC, daughter of the late Albert Jackson and the late Thelma Miller Jackson Godbold. She was a retired supervisor for Southern Bell, now Bell South, and a member of Crowfield Baptist Church. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star, John L. Flynn Chapter in Goose Creek and Southern Palmetts Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling both domestic and international.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter, Lorna Baker Schiffiano (John) of Shallotte, NC; sisters: Cathy Dawson (Larry) of LA, Nora Penn (David) of Ohio, Linda Teare (Michael) of PA, June Blackmon (Kenny) of Ladson, SC; brother, Sammy Jackson (Tracey) of PA, granddaughter, Lisa Marie Schiffiano and her fiancé, Jesse Freligh of Shallotte, NC; Great-Grandson, Dylan William Fish of Shallotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Jackson, son, James Leo Baker, Jr. and sister, Dolores Becude.
The funeral service will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Saturday, July 14, 2012 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm.
