Bessie Mae (Connor) DeBerry

 Bessie Mae (Connor) DeBerry was called to her heavenly home on July 14, 2023. Born February 4, 1933 in Florence, SC she was the daughter of Jessie and Lottie Connor, and sister to six siblings, four of which predeceased her. (Dalmer-p, Willard-p, Bernice-p, Edward-p, Heyward, Boyd)

She went to Tans Bay High School in Effingham, SC where she enjoyed playing basketball and other sports and working in downtown Florence. She married William Roger Quick (predeceased) in Florence, SC and had four children, William Jr. (Speedy), Tony, Wendy (predeceased), and Gregg. Later, she married Edward Parks DeBerry (predeceased) and the family moved to Isle of Palms, SC where she enjoyed gardening and the beach life. 

She had a long career with Southern Bell and enjoyed her work. After retirement, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and continued enjoying living near the beach, and was very involved with her church and other social activities like bridge, gardening and beach walking. 

The last seven years, she spent in Mt. Pleasant, SC close to son Speedy who faithfully and lovingly looked after her. She loved the Lord her Savior and served Him with gladness and grace. She was a devoted and faithful daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend to so many. 

Bessie is survived by her sons Speedy (Linnea), Tony (Patty), and Gregg (Nancy), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 
At her request, there will be no memorial service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and/or Samaritan’s Purse.
