Bernie Dean Sanders

March 10, 1949 — June 19, 2013

Bernie Dean Sanders, 64, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Mildred Warren Sanders, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 19, 2013. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Monday, June 24, 2013, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Bernie was born March 10, 1949 in Savannah, Georgia, son of William T. Sanders and Inez Creech Sanders. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a retired Railroad Engineer with Southern Railroad for over 34 years. Bernie was a member of Church of Christ, Charleston Rifle Club, West Ashley Outdoor Motor Club, and he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his two brothers, Patrick "Pat" Sanders (Cindy) of Johns Island and Gary K. Sanders (Susan) of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Ste. 504, North Charleston, SC 29406 and/or Hospice of Charleston Hospice Center, 4975 Lacross Road, Ste. 200, North Charleston, SC 29406.
