Bernice Miller Gould of Charleston departed this life surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was the beloved wife and widow of Carleton Frank Gould. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1929 and grew up in Colorado, where she loved riding horses on her family ranch. Bernice was a homemaker who was devoted to raising her children. Later she put all her energy, for over 30 years, into developing a successful jewelry company, B Gould Jewelry.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gould Boyd and husband Edward; grandson Edward Allen Boyd, Jr. and wife Claire; great granddaughters Mary Carleton, Caroline Allen, and Elizabeth Mahaffy; granddaughter Juliane Boyd Seyle and husband Kevin; great grandchildren James Edward, Catherine Boyd, and Charles Martin; and grandson, Martin Gould Boyd.
Also her son, Stephen Carl Gould and wife Judy; grandson Stephen Carl Gould, Jr. and wife Kelly; great grandchildren Andrew Powell and Garland Barrier; her grandson, Dr. Martin Scott Gould and wife Erin; great grandchildren Elizabeth Rhodes, Nash Slade and Lauren Gray and her granddaughter, Lauren Barrier Gould.
Also her son, Scott William Gould and wife Stacy; grandsons Scott William Gould, Jr. and wife Josie, William Joseph, and Graham Michael Gould.
Bernice's memorial service will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street at 2:00 pm. Entombment following will be in the church Columbarium. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
