Bernard "Bob" Wolitzer, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Emilie Grieg Wolitzer died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Hospice Center of Charleston following an extended illness. A "Gathering of Friends" will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Interment will be at a later date.
Bob was born January 20, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Herman and Lillian Sarlin Wolitzer. A FL-licensed Hearing Aid Specialist, Bob was a private pilot from the age of 55 and a FAA-certified ground school instructor. He was an advanced licensed HAM radio operator (W4NQW) and loved boating and target shooting. He was a master at radio-controlled model air plane building and operation and was a member of the American Association of Radio-Controlled Aircraft. Bob loved computer technology and classical music, especially opera, as well as the music of Gilbert & Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Emilie Wolitzer of Charleston, SC; his children, Mark (Monica) Wolitzer of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, Neil (Abigail) Wolitzer of Westfield, NJ, and Daniel Grieg of Hollywood, FL; his grandchildren, Caroline Rose Wolitzer, and Ethan Gage Wolitzer, and Michael Gildersleeve.
