Bernard Henry Alexander

Bernard Henry Alexander, 89, of Ravenel, South Carolina, husband of the late Elizabeth Frances Alexander, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 1, 2024. His Graveside will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in the Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue, at 1:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Bernard was born November 21, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Burton Alexander and Gertrude Mindermann Alexander. As the owner of Alexander Furniture Refinishing, he was known for his craftsmanship in restoring precious family heirlooms. As the twelfth of thirteen children, Bernard learned at an early age the benefit of hard work and entrepreneurship. From Civil War pieces to pianos that fell off trucks on I-26, there was no furniture that Bernard could not repair. He also served in the United States Navy on the guided missile destroyer USS Lester. 

He is survived by his son, Stephen Bernard (Paula) Alexander; daughter, Pamela Alexander-Powell (Scott); brother George (Caroline); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by grandson Stephen Allen Alexander
