Benay Susan Grater, 73, of Charleston, SC, wife of Harold Grater, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 2, 2016. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in Emanu-El Cemetery "Maryville", Sycamore Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mrs. Grater was born December 9, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Nathan Greene and Norma Katz Greene. She was an administrative assistant for the Department of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold; her son, Rabbi Joshua Levine Grater of Pasadena, CA; her daughter, Rachel Gabrielle Grater of Brooklyn, NY; and three grandchildren: Noah Grater, Ella Grater, and Joseph Grater Glenn.
Memorials may be made to the Synagogue Emanu-El, c/o Steinberg Chapel Fund, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
