Belle Picquet Pelham, 86, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widow of Robert Lee Pelham went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 13, 2013. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Fort Johnson Baptist Church at 1 pm and followed by her burial at the Magnolia Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Mrs. Pelham, affectionately known as Granny, was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 24, 1926. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary DuBose Picquet. Mrs. Pelham was married to Robert Pelham for 62 years and lovingly dedicated her life to caring for her family. She will always be treasured and remembered for being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a fan of baseball and would spend hours watching those she loved as they played. Mrs. Pelham attended Fort Johnson Baptist Church and was proud to be a member of the Ladies "Love" Sunday School Class. She was a devoted Christian for over 65 years and held numerous jobs in the Nazarene Church.
Mrs. Pelham is survived by a son, Norman Lee Pelham of Summerville and two daughters, Belle "Neicy" Parker (Roger) and Susan "Tootie" Polk (Eddie) all of Charleston. She has eight grandchildren: April McDougall (Danny), Lee Pelham (Charity), Shan Parker, Kim Pelham, Keith Parker, Paige Pelham, Ashley Polk, and Robert Polk. She also has nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pelham is also survived by three sisters: Francis Bledsoe, Ginny Hodges (Conrad), and Edna Felder (Tommy) and one brother, Edward Picquet (Betty).
