Barry Keith Stitely

Barry Keith Stitely, 60, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, suddenly passed away on December 23, 2024. His loss is completely unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Northwoods Chapel.

Barry was born on December 26, 1963, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Jack Stitely, Sr., and Mary Lee Beachley Stitely. He was the third of five children: Teresa Stitely, Jack Stitely, Jr., Gene Stitely, and Gary Stitely. His parents, as well as his brother Gene, predeceased him.

Barry joined the US Navy in 1982 and worked as an Electronics Technician. Once he separated fron the Nacy he worked as a systems engineer for the DOD, on both the government and civilian sides, receiving many awards. He enjoyed helping people and sharing what he had learned. 

His time in the Navy brought him down to Charleston, SC, where he met his loving wife, Karen LaVanway Stitely. They were married May 5, 1987. In 1992, they welcomed their daughter, Katie Stitely Draznin(Oren), followed by their son, Blake Stitely in 1997.

Barry enjoyed hunting with his father and brother in West Virgina, fantasy football, poker league, and “jaunties” with his dogs.

His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who {loved} him deeply. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make contributions to Folds of Honor in lieu of flowers and contribute by sharing memories of our beloved husband, father, and brother on the memorial website.
