Barkley Rhea Galloway passed away February 26, 2022 in Ridgeville, South Carolina. He died unexpectedly, but peacefully, of a cardiovascular accident. He was 49 years old.
Barkley was born March 27, 1972, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He earned his degree from USC Upstate, as well as attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NC State. In his most recent role as a Senior Network Engineer, Barkley worked for Scientific Research Corporation from May 2008, where he was employed until his death.
Barkley was an avid sports fan. He loved all sports, but baseball had a special place in his heart. His passion for the sport was enthusiastically shared by his son, Dylan, as the whole family traveled extensively to attend sports camps and play with several age-group clubs. Barkley was a consummate DIY-er. He loved working on his house and the backyard. For him, relaxing around the house meant enjoying a few carefully-selected craft beers while smoking his specialties – pulled pork and beef brisket. Whenever his family travels took him close to the water, he and Dylan always took time to enjoy fishing. For indoor interests, he was an expert player of Cards against Humanity, Trivial Pursuit and Scattergories, to name a few. He rarely finished worse than first place during family reunions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gracemarie Domantay-Galloway; son, Dylan Alexander Galloway; the family pet, Rocky; brother, Barrett Galloway; stepfather, Louis Martinez; and, aunt, Kay McCormick Smith. Barkley is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Rhea Galloway and Dorothy Lola McCormick.
The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm Sunday, March 26, 2022 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Funeral services will begin immediately after.
