Barbara Berlinsky Stine, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Gordan B. Stine, DDS entered into eternal rest Monday, September 4, 2017. Services will be private. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Barbara was born July 2, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of Philip Berlinsky and Bella Berlinsky. She attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Temple.
Barbara was active in many civic organizations throughout her life along with raising and caring for her family. She was a former member of the Charleston Exchange Club Auxiliary Club, Charleston Symphony Organization & Gibbs Art Gallery. She also served on the South Carolina Arts Commission and was honored by Governor David Beasley who awarded her the Order of the Palmetto for her many years of service to the state of South Carolina. Most of all Barbara was widely known for hosting dinners and events supporting husband's many civic & professional activities. Her baking and cooking skills were second to none as many will always remember her ability to make everyone feel so welcomed in her home.
She is survived by two sons: Steven M. Stine (Lisa) of Charleston, SC and Robert J. Stine (Tammy) of Johns Island, SC; two brothers: Danny Berlinsky and Norman Berlinsky, both of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
