Barbara Smith

January 22, 1942 — March 30, 2016

Barbara Anderson Smith, 74, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of James Oscar Smith, Jr. entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 12:00 p.m. Interment, St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Downtown Chapel.

Barbara was born January 22, 1942 in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of the late James Edgar Miller and Nina Allen Miller. She retired from Bellsouth as a switchboard operator and was a member of Pioneer Telephone Operators of America. She devoted her time to Carolina Sunshine and was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons: James Darren Anderson (Laura) of Charleston, SC and Warren Lee Anderson (Michelle) of Englewood, OH; three sisters: Addie Guyton of Mullins, SC, Esther Smith (Smitty) of Irmo, SC, and Mary Strickland of Conway, SC; six grandchildren: Ashley, Morgan, Jenna, J.J., Parker, and Payton; and her special friend, John Flowers.
