Barbara Hollings Siegling, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of W. Allison Siegling, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in St. John's Lutheran Church, 5 Clifford Street at 1:00 pm. Interment to immediately follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Barbara was born June 28, 1925, in Charleston, SC to parents Adolph Gevert Hollings and Wilhelmine Dorthea Meyer. As a lifelong resident of Charleston, she was deeply connected to the city’s rich history and culture. She attended Memminger and Marjorie Webster Junior College, and proudly received her B.A. degree from the College of Charleston in 2001. A lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Barbara taught Sunday school and was involved in various organizations such as the Lee Freyschimdt Circle.
Barbara and her husband, Allison, spent many glorious afternoons swimming at Sullivans Island. She enjoyed gardening, outdoor excursions, holidays with family, and hosting loved ones in her home. Many would describe Barbara, affectionately called “Barbie” or “Nana”, as gracious, resilient, honest, brave and fun-loving.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Allison Siegling, her brothers Robert M. Hollings (Mary), Adoph G. Hollings (Delilian), Ernest F. Hollings (Rita), her sister Marie Epps; nephews Robert Myer Hollings, Jr. (Karen), Adolph Gevert Hollings, III (Rita) and nieces Pam Hollings McConnell (Bright), Anna Paisley Hollings and Linda Epps Ellison.
She is survived by her two stepsons, Allison “Sonny” Siegling (Joyce) and Lanneau Siegling (Mary Helen); nine step-grandchildren Bill Siegling, Mark Siegling, Michael Siegling (Tiffany), Angela Dalton (David), Elizabeth Siegling, Henry Siegling, L. Holton Siegling (Martha Ann), Helen Ann Siegling Thrower and Christy Siegling (Adam Jamison Gilbert). Also, nephews Peter F. Hollings (Mary), Michael Milhous Hollings (Deborah), Ernest Frederick Hollings, III, Robert Calhoun Epps (Barbara), Charles Randolph Epps; nieces Julie Hollings-Bower, Helen Hayne Hollings Reardon (John); grandnephews Robert Myer Hollings III (Stacey), Ian McConnell, Bright McConnell IV, Christopher C. Milhous Hollings, John Reardon III (Ilse), Dain Reardon (Jessica), Patrick Reardon, Yancey Epps; grandnieces Holli Seabrook Nunn (Knox), Patricia Salley Schwerdt, Steffani Connor Schwerdt, Elizabeth McConnell (Ginny), Ashley Carter (Carey), Jennifer Boston Hulth, Emily H. Carley (Paul), Jessica Shatzer (Justin), and Amy Garrett and numerous cousins and great grandchildren.
