Barbara Eileen Timmins Rothwell

Barbara Eileen Timmins Rothwell, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of James Rothwell entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street at 11:00 am. Please join the family for a reception immediately following the service in the cathedral. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Barbara was born October 19, 1931 in Thorne Doncaster, England, daughter of the late William Benjamin Timmins and Mary Emily Larder Timmins. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend whose great joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara was an avid reader and a lover of music, dance and travel. Barbara volunteered at MUSC for several years and later in life became a very successful athlete winning numerous medals in a variety of Senior Olympic events. 

She is survived by her children: Linda Rothwell Bakker (Anthony) of Seabrook Island, SC; David James Rothwell (Janet) of Fishlake, Doncaster, England; and Andrew Rothwell (Tracey) of Sprotborough, Doncaster, England; four grandchildren: James Frederick Bakker, Katherine Elizabeth Bakker, Sadie Rothwell Link and Jake Rothwell and five great-grandchildren: Emma and Milo McKee, Louis and Max Rothwell, and Eliza Bakker. Barbara was predeceased by her grandson, Oliver James Rothwell.
