Barbara Johnson

Barbara M. Johnson, age 78, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Orangeburg Regional Hospital. Born in Columbia, SC to Frank and Willa McNeill. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Columbia High School. She and her family moved to Charleston in 1968. In 1977, she was hired as the travel companion for Miss USA and Miss Universe and for five years she traveled the world residing in New York City and Long Beach, CA. This position afforded her international travel and opportunities to meet, and entertain with heads of state, other government officials, celebrities and the world's elite. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband John Muhlhauser, five children, Amy and Eddie Hardy, Barbara and Paul Gauf, Laurie and Jack Kotchish, Yancy Johnson, and Kristy and Larry Walker. She has ten grandchildren, Rebekah Hardy, Joshua Hardy, Samuel Hardy, Jonathan Hardy, Matthew Gauf, John Gauf, Judson Gauf, Preston Kotchish, Tharin Walker, Molly Walker and two great-grandchildren, Aidan Kotchish and Emma Kate Hardy. The memorial service will be held in the Nancy Freeman Stringer Memorial Chapel at The Oaks in Orangeburg, SC on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 2 pm.
